Subordinate Conjunctions

So or so that

1. consequently: It was raining, so we did not go out.

2. in order that: I am saving money so I can buy a bicycle.

Note: When used with the meaning in order that, so is usually followed by that in formal English.

e.g. I am saving money so that I can buy a bicycle.

Welcome to My Academic Writing Blog
This blog was craeted for the Academic Writing Workshop, summer 2005, by Dr. Elizabeth Hanson-Smith. Most of the participants in the workshop are EFL/ESL Webheads from around the world. It is a 5-week workshop and we are in week 3 today.

I will be posting writing assignments to this blog as part of the required learning acitivites during this wonderful leanerning experience, where participants learn from each other and with one another.
